mamashanti teacher training

Mamashanti’s Yoga for the Birthing Years Teacher Training is the only fully integrated program created by an experienced yogini, doula and childbirth educator. I welcome the opportunity to share insights gained from over 30 years of personal practice, over a decade of exclusively teaching yoga to women through their birthing years; offering professional birth preparation; attending births and additional study.

As you consider your training options, I trust you will find inspiration for your journey and the possibility of taking your practice to a deeper, more loving and compassionate place. In 2015, it will be my honour to welcome you to share your journey with a circle of professionals dedicated to supporting women through their birthing years.

For over a decade, I have been exclusively teaching yoga to women during their birthing years. In this time, so much of my early understandings of what is considered to be appropriate to call prenatal yoga has been stripped and dissolved. In heeding the lessons of birth, mamashanti’s Yoga for Pregnancy and Birth has been liberated from the binds of offering women “continuity of their known practice” – a prenatal yoga that relies upon a heavily modified classic hatha yoga class. So liberated, this approach is rich in practices that help pregnant women explore meaningful ways to:

  • Support their structural integrity, helping to feel strong and confident with their bodies and their birthing and mothering potential.
  • Understand how emotional and energetic blocks create tension and resistance in their bodies.
  • Help their babies find space to position favourably for birth.
  • Integrate uplifting yoga, deep-guided relaxation and nourishing breathing techniques to help women create their own contemporary and wholistic active birth practice.
  • Use their breath as a guide to embrace the exquisite intensity of childbirth.
  • Simply “let go” for birth.

Equally in attending dozens of births, I have entirely reframed my understanding of Active Birth to integrate rich, exquisite practices to assist women as they lean into their own unique experience of childbirth.  Practices I have  cultivated under the name of a new modality: Yoga for Pregnancy and Birth based in mamashanti’s principles of Active {conscious and engaged} Birth.

Mamashanti’s Yoga for the Birthing Years Teacher Training will immerse you in a way of being with birthing women that is:

  • Entirely devoted to honouring each woman’s unique transition from maiden to mother.
  • Seamlessly integrated with contemporary independent childbirth education.
  • Made abundant with exquisitely feminine practices.
  • A flowing and potent practice created by intricately entwining breath and movement.
  • Simply, a new paradigm in birth preparation and support.

Reflecting ten moons of pregnancy, Mamashanti’s Yoga for the Birthing Years Teacher Training will journey through the year. We will begin our journey in late February 2017 and meet monthly. This will give you time to explore and develop your own professional practice.
